Expectations of MoG Members
Thank you for your interest in being part of the ministry of Men of God International. As you may already know, we are not a clan. We are a ministry. Our primary focus and mission is to see gamers come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. The games, whether Battlefield, COD, or MoHAA, are just tools we use to reach the online gaming world for Jesus. To be a member of MoG, you must have a relationship with God and a desire to use your energies, games, and life to see those that are unsaved give their heart and life to Jesus Christ.
Is that your goal? Is that your desire? Is helping someone find out about Jesus more important than the score of the game? If you can answer yes to these questions, you may be a good candidate for membership in MoG!
If you are under the age of 18 here are the steps of your application process: Fill out the online application, then a recruiter will email a Parental Consent Form to you, you’ll print this form out, sit down with your parents and review the document, have them sign it and return via postal mail. After your PCF is received, you’ll be contacted to continue the application process.
When you fill out the application for membership you’ll be asked to choose a Primary Game. This is the game that you will be playing the majority of the time and whose squad you will belong to for the duration of your ministry. You may play in the other games that MoG supports, but your allegiance and responsibilities are due to the primary game.¯ You will support your squad by faithfully attending practices and team meetings.
MoG uses ranks similar to the ones found in the U.S. Army. If you are chosen to serve in this ministry, you will start as a Private (Pvt.) and may advance as your level of contribution to the ministry increases and matures. Several people have been in MoG for a long time and they are still a Pvt. or Pfc. because they have chosen to belong to MoG to play with other Christians and be a witness to other gamers on MoG’s servers. But they have other commitments or responsibilities that do not allow them to serve in a higher capacity within MoG. Always remember to show those with higher rank than yourself (and those of lesser rank) the respect that they deserve, not only as brothers and sisters in Christ, but also as people who may have been placed in authority over you by the Lord in Men of God.
Choosing a MoG screen name is an important decision. Your MoG tag should ultimately cause interest in Jesus, reflect the nature of God, an attribute of God or even a testimony of your walk with Christ. It can be a name from the Bible or a scripture verse like John 3:16. Your choices of names will be compared to the master roster, which has most of the names that we commonly think of, such as Paul, love, Peacemaker, etc., but the Recruiting Dept. will help you with suggestions if your choices are taken.
As a member of MoG there are 4 ways to communicate, the Men of God forums, Teamspeak Servers, MSN Messenger, and your MoG hotmail account. You are responsible, above any method of outreach we offer, to keep up with the forums, email, login to MSN Messenger when online, as well as use TeamSpeak when online. During the application process, you’ll receive instructions of when to setup the hotmail account. Setting up any account BEFORE you’ve received instructions from a MoG Recruiter will only cause a delay in your application process.
Whether on the TeamSpeak server, the MoG forums, via hotmail, or especially in the game servers, please do not use these areas to discuss topics which will only serve to divide the Body of Christ and take the focus of those seeking Christ away from Christ and salvation. The devil would love to use our discussions, no matter how innocent or well meaning to cause hurt feelings or raise unnecessary questions about Christianity or Christians. Save your theological discussions for your Sunday School class or a one-on-one with those in MoG leadership. Always keep this in mind.
Once your application is approved, you may be contacted by the leaders from that game and given instructions about changing your tag (MoG screen name) to the proper standards. This tag will be worn while in games whether inside or outside of MoG at all times. (MoG does not allow dual membership and asks all members to abide by this request). MoG has a reputation for being Christians and by wearing your MoG tags in secular servers you’ll be a witness for Christ and will have opportunities to share Christ. You also may find that you are harassed for your testimony. This can often be the greatest witness, whether done by those being antagonistic or those seeking truth. The unsaved are watching and need to see how Christ will act through you.
Finally, enjoy yourself. The work of the Lord has great rewards. You’ll find people that will help you carry your burdens, laugh with you, and even cry with you. After all this is the Body of Christ! We are all here to serve God with all our heart, mind, body, soul and spirit and at the same time play a game. What a blessing to serve the Lord in this way. You indeed are blessed already and we’re sure you’ll be a blessing to others.
